James Lockwood, P.E. – Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Lockwood has over 25 years of industry experience as a design/builder in the fields of heavy civil construction projects of bridges, towers and pipelines.  From 1989 to 1998, he was Principal of J. Muller International, (JMI) where he established and led the company’s Chicago and New York City offices. In 1996, he established, as CEO and Managing Director, Egis Inc. in New York City, an affiliate company of JMI and the US operations of Groupe Egis in Paris, FR, the largest French transportation group of 5,600.  JMI specialized in major bridge consulting worldwide with offices in Europe, Asia and North America.  

Mr. Lockwood founded Comptek Structural Composites in 1998 in New York as a product development and engineering company.  In 2003, Comptek expanded its operations into manufacturing in Boulder, Colorado.  In 2002, Mr. Lockwood established Aero Solutions as a tower optimization design/builder, completing over $75 Million of reinforcing projects to date using FRP or steel systems.  Aero Solutions manages the structural integrity of tower structure portfolios and optimizes the load carrying capacity of tower through its engineering and reinforcing services.

Based in Europe for 6 years, he was a researcher in the SFB 64 Cable and Lightweight Structures Group and worked as a structural engineer in the offices of Leonhardt & Andra in Stuttgart, Germany.  Mr. Lockwood received a post graduate fellowship at the Technical Univ. of Denmark in 1985.

Mr. Lockwood has served on technical committees of the American Institute of Steel Construction, American Concrete Institute, Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee of the Market Development Alliance of the Composites Industry and Post Tensioning Institute.  He holds an MSCE from the Univ. of Washington and BSCE from the Univ. of Cincinnati.  In 2006, he was selected by McGraw Hill ENR’s Top 25 Newsmakers in 1996.
